Bordeaux café · Swedish comforts
Cold hands.
Warm cups.
A little Sweden.
You’ve wandered through the old streets, stopped for another photograph and started thinking about something warm. Perhaps a hot chocolate. Perhaps a waffle, too. Some of the nicest moments of a winter city break happen when you put the sightseeing on hold.
If you’re looking for a cosy café in Bordeaux, come in from the cold at Suzzi. On rue des Trois-Conils, near Place Pey-Berland, we bring a little Swedish warmth to your afternoon with homemade sweet treats and something lovely to sip.
Find your afternoon treat ↓
In France, an afternoon sweet treat is called le goûter. At Suzzi, we also take inspiration from fika: the Swedish tradition of pausing for a coffee, something sweet and a little conversation. You don’t need a special occasion. A chilly afternoon in Bordeaux is reason enough.
Swedish waffles and a slower afternoon in Bordeaux
Settle in, leave your scarf on the back of your chair and give the map a rest. Our Swedish waffle, or våffla, comes in heart-shaped sections with homemade whipped cream and seasonal fruit. Choose homemade chocolate sauce, homemade salted caramel or strawberry jam to finish it just the way you like.
It’s a welcome stop between exploring the city and browsing its shops: somewhere to sit indoors, compare your favourite discoveries and decide what to do next over a few delicious mouthfuls.

A little taste of Sweden in Bordeaux
Hot chocolate in Bordeaux, with time to savour it
Some days call for coffee. Others call for hot chocolate, especially after a walk in the cold. At Suzzi, you can also warm up with the spices of a chai latte or settle into the afternoon with a cappuccino.
A cosy stop on a rainy day in Bordeaux
When rain changes your plans, an unhurried café stop can become a favourite part of the day. If you’re exploring around Pey-Berland, Suzzi is close by on rue des Trois-Conils. Come inside, warm up and give yourself a little time before your next outing.
Another cup? Stay a little longer.
Order a filter coffee from 3:30 pm and enjoy unlimited refills until we close at 6 pm. There’s time for another chapter, another story or a few more lines in your travel journal.
You’re just as welcome on your own as with friends. Bring a book, sketch something you spotted on your walk, write a postcard or catch up on a little work. A winter afternoon in Bordeaux doesn’t have to be filled from start to finish. Sometimes a warm drink and a moment to yourself are exactly what you came away for.
